So I thought of starting out with the top search engine (Don’t need to mention that here, right?), to look for bits of “history” about my Eee PC 701. Then again, what better way to “discover the best sites on the web” than to use a more “human”-based website recommendation system. (Read: Stumbleupon)
True enough, I found this other blog post: Asus Eeepc 701. Vintage 2007. It’s a first impression review. Rather comprehensive, especially from what appears to be a Linux fanboy.
Then I thought, perhaps I could reference that into my personal context. :-)
So here goes.
I got myself an Asus EeePC 701 on Valentines last year. I thought I could give that as a present to my wife. Turns out it has become a gift to her husband!
The EeePC is a “tiny” Linux-based laptop that, I believe, will completely upset the laptop market. Guess what? It’s happening.
The following is verbatim:
“Why? For several reasons: It’s very small yet full-featured, uses Linux instead of Windows, has no hard drive and seems quite durable. In short, this is a perfect student machine. It’s also a perfect PC for a new computer user. It would also be ideal for children, and likely for people giving presentations on the road. The interface is very easy to use, the screen is crisp, the system is just a normal PC, so is compatible with an endless array of software and hardware.”
The following is not. My son helped me take the photo.

You might not be surprised to know that a popular phone brand is hard at work trying to get a piece of the netbook market action? Now I wonder if the folks from that other company would call their product a netphone.
