My son Marcky loves freebies and contests. Since he was about 7, he’d grab every chance to sample free cheese spread; hotdogs; those tiny bits on toothpicks; promo gifts, name it, he’d try it. So each trip to the supermarket is sampling trip.
On certain occasions, he would cajole me or his Mom into buying those happy meal toys that go with a regular burger, even if he didn’t bother with the latter. So I’d end up eating the burger. Not that I mind. I’m kind of a sucker for burgers. But that’s a another story.
Today is a bit different. It’s not food or happy meal toy that Marcky is after. It’s a free cruise. So Marcky kind of recruited me into this. “Pa, you blog, right?” he asked me while I was finishing dinner. “Uh yeah”, I replied. “There’s a contest, about Eee PC, and you need to blog about it for a chance to win a cruise for four!” he continued.
Anyhow, since I hadn’t been blogging lately, I didn’t feel the quick urge to jump right into the idea. Blame it on Twitter, it has forced me to think in 140 characters. Then again, why pass this chance for a sample of a good life for a few days in a cruise ship.
So yes, I complied. And talk about my Eee PC, I will. After all, I’m a sucker for contests too.

Your son Marcky is smart… why spend if you can get a lot of things for free? I used to hang around S&R during lunch hours and help myself with free samples to have my fill for the meal.
