No. I don’t have any fascinating story  to tell how I met and seen Mrs. Cory Aquino for the very first and last time of my life. In fact, how I met her was very simple and unexpected.

It was during her visit in our school when I first met her. A forum was being held in the hall. I was about to leave since it was already getting late and the fact that most speakers that were expected to be there already finished talking. And then people from the back starting to murmur, saying: ” Si Cory.. Si Cory”. So most people looked behind. and there she was, dress in yellow, Mrs. Cory Aquino. As simple as everyone else in the hall and yet so many people surrounding her, from her bodyguards, to reporters, cameraman/woman and to those who are handling the said event. But beyond all of those, she continues to smile to everyone who she makes eye contact with. She just have those kind of charisma.

If I remember it right, the forum then turned to acknowledge Mrs. Cory Aquino for the I am Ninoy Campaign. (I remember those Ninoy Stamps that I have yet to have as collector item. But anyway, back to my story) Mrs. Cory then spoke in front and thanking every one and a part of her speech was also about calling students to become more proactive voice to the injustices happening in the government. ( this was the time when the lasallian brothers and Mrs Cory were asking GMA to step down from governancy.)

Mrs. Cory was still able to captivate the people to listen to her. But then, I was looking at her and started to notice how frail she looks ( I think, during this moment, the news about her cancer was not yet out in the public). Yes, She looks thin but inside she was stronger- stronger to have a louder voice than all of us.

At the end of her talk, as she was about to leave the hall, everyone wants to approach her. I for one wanted too. But I know how hard that would be. So instead, I left the place early and went to the comfort room instead. As I got out of the CR, I suddenly saw Mrs Cory Aquino in passing to where I stand, she was already leaving and was to go to the exit. She was really close to me and made an eye contact with me.. All that I was able to say was: “Hi Mrs. Cory!” (smile).

Thats it.

and she just smiled.

thats it.

and that is how I met Mrs. Cory Aquino.

As the passing of Mrs. Cory Aquino. God bless her beautiful soul. I realized how the Filipinos lost a symbol of freedom and democracy. She was this huge factor who can call and reunite the people to a mass and bring our voices out in the street. She was a great leader and a great women beyond and beyond.

I know as I am writing this, people may wonder why the  late farewell to Cory? Well, I realize how much we are already have been reminded who Cory was, from the daily non-stop funeral update of Mrs. Aquino, newspapers, ads,to the blogosphere, to the radios, to the internet, facebook, twitter, plurks, friendster, ym, yellow ribbons all over the town and even the LRT playing ” Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree”.

I don’t want to overwhelm anymore you guys. For me, I just want to say my farewell and my gratitude to Mrs. Cory Aquino for everything that she has fighten for. Even if I was not born yet during the time of EDSA I, I want to say my Thank you.

Because for one, without her, I wouldn’t be blogging right now (as I exercise my right of freedom of speech, Think about it, what if we are still in the era of Martial Law?)
